Phonics Units 5-7

Hi all,

Phonics Units 5-7 are now ready for download from the Teaching Resources page. Note that units 6 and 7 have swapped from the original plan. As I was preparing the materials, I realised that teaching long vowels before "ng" was better.

As well as the new phonics units, there are a few other additions:

• For teachers that would like to get certificates this term, there are four Activity Assessment Forms at the end of the Training Materials section. Read through these to help you prepare for your assessment. If anyone would like a certificate for a different activity, please let me know and I will prioritise writing that assessment.
• In the Team Learning Section, there is a file of Generic Resources, which includes team labels, lucky dip cards, and a few other miscellaneous items that don't fit anywhere else.
• Also in Team Learning, the Scoring Guide has been updated to V 3.2. 
• Finally for this update, the Training Plan form has been updated to V 2.0. The layout is a bit clearer, and there is a check-list to remind us about your semester objectives.

I see quite a few people have already posted their first Reflection Diary. Well done! For anyone that is struggling, Khrus Mam and Nok will help you write the first one next time we come for training.

Update to Teaching Resources Page

Hi all,

I have just updated the Resources page for those of you that have fast Internet. I will also start distributing the new CDs (version 1.1) especially for those whose Internet connection is still slow.


This update includes:

• Activity guides for Team Learning, Listen and Run, Materials Preparation, and Phonics Rain
• A Flash-card set about Time - including days of the week and months
• Updated flashcards for People (version 1.1) - there were some mistakes in version 1.0
• Most of the information has been translated into Thai, so if you click the Thai flag near the top-left of the page, and click on a "show" button for an item, you can read about it in Thai before you decide whether to download.

Khru Nok has started to make a list of all the mistakes and ideas for improvement in the resources, and we will soon start updating them. So if you notice any mistakes, or have any ideas for improving the Activity Guides, please report them to Khru Nok.

My reflection Diary #1

Hi !! everyone,

Here're my reflection Diary :

1. Activities : ครูผึ้งจัดทีมใหม่สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นป.4 แต่ยังไม่ได้ถ่ายรูปนักเรียนและยังไม่มีชื่อฝรั่ง เพราะยังไม่มีเวลาเพียงพอ ส่วนป.5 OK. นอกจากนี้ยังได้ทบทวนการนั่งแบบต่างๆ สี และหมายเลขของนักเรียน นักเรียนก็ทำได้ดีขึ้น กิจกรรมที่ใช้ในครั้งนี้คือ Phonics Drilling Phonics Rain และ Line Challenge. นักเรียนชั้นป.5 ทำกิจกรรมได้ค่อนข้างดี ส่วนนักเรียนชั้นป.4 ยังใหม่อยู่ยังไม่ดีเท่าที่ควร

2. Phonics : ครูผึ้งได้ทบทวน Unit 1-3 สำหรับ ป.5 ส่วน ป.4 สอนได้แค่เสียงสระ a e i o u เท่านั้น และทำกิจกรรมดังกล่าว นักเรียนชั้นป.4 บางคนยังจำเสียงสระไม่แม่นยำ จำสับกันระหว่างเสียง a และ e ส่วน Phonics ป. 5 นักเรียนอ่านประสมคำได้เก่งขึ้น

3. General Content : ครูผึ้งได้สอนคำศัพท์ School Object โดยใช้คำศัพท์ในบัญชีคำพื้นฐานภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียน

4. Classroom Language : ครูผึ้งได้ทบทวนประโยคที่ใช้ในห้องเรียน เช่น Sit down, Stand up, Listen to me, Red Team stand up, Blue Team No. 5 stand up etc. และได้เพิ่มประโยคใหม่ซึ่งจะใช้เป็น Quiet Signal ด้วย นั่นคือ "Be quiet" เพราะครูผึ้งไม่สามารถปรบมือให้เสียงดังได้ ซึ่งก็ได้ผลดีมาก

5. Student Independence : ครูผึ้งยังไม่สามารถมอบหมายให้นักเรียนรับผิดชอบได้ เพราะยังไม่มีเวลาฝึกนักเรียน

ในสัปดาหืที่ 2 ได้ทดลองมอบหมายให้นักเรียนช่วย เตรียมอุปกรณ์ และเสื้อทีมด้วยตนเอง ผลปรากฏว่าพอใช้ได้ ต้องฝึกอีกนิดหน่อย

Reflection Diary Guidelines
Every reflection Diary should have 5 sections (the same as those in your semester objectives):
บันทึกหลังการสอนควรจะมี 5 หัวข้อ (เหมือนกันกับหัวข้อในวัตถุประสงค์ที่ตั้งไว้ตั้งแต่ต้นเทอม  คือ Activities, Phonics Units, General Content, English in the Classroom, Student Independence)

สำหรับแต่ละหัวข้อของวัตถุประสงค์ ควรเขียนตามรายการด้านล่างระหว่าง 2 อาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมาครูทำอะไรไปบ้างแล้วจากวัตถุประสงค์ที่ตั้งไว้

2 สัปดาห์แรกมีการทบทวน Phonics Unit 1-3ให้กับนักเรียน จึงใช้กิจกรรม Phonics Drilling และ Reading Challenge ซึ่งครูแหม่มได้ใช้เป็นประจำแล้วแต่ยังไม่ได้เริ่มลองกิจกรรมใหม่ๆคาดว่าอีก 2 สัปดาห์ข้างหน้าจะลองทำกิจกรรมใหม่ๆตามที่ได้ตั้งวัตถุปรสงค์ไว้

Phonics Units

มีการทบทวน Phonics Unit 1-3 ที่นักเรียนเคยเรียนมาบ้างแล้ว และให้นักเรียนเริ่มผสมคำอ่านเช่น m-a-p, t-i-p, t-i-n ...etc. ยังไม่ได้ขึ้นบทใหม่เพราะอยากให้นักเรียนคล่องกว่านี้ก่อน

General Contents

2 สัปดาห์แรกยังไม่ได้เริ่มเนื้อหา หรือ คำศัพท์ อยากให้นักเรียนสามารถสะกดคำอ่านให้ได้ก่อนเพราะ 50% ของนักเรียนยังสะกดไม่ได้ แต่อาทิตย์หน้าจะเริ่มสอนคำศัพท์เกี่ยวกับ Part of Body

English in the Classroom

มีการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในการสื่อสารกับนักเรียนสำหรับชั่วโมงภาษาอังกฤษซึ่งเป็นวลีที่ใช้เป็นประจำอยู่แล้วเช่น Good Morning, How are you, I'm fine, I'm Okay, Stand up, Sit down ... แต่อีกสองอาทิตย์ข้างหน้าจะเพิ่มคำใหม่ๆ ประมาณ 2-3 วลี เช่น present, absent, you're welcome

Student Independence

สำหรับสองอาทิตย์แรกยังไม่ได้มอบหมายให้นักเรียนทำงานด้วยตนเอง คิดว่าเรียนอีก 2-3 ครั้งจะให้นักเรียนรู้หน้าที่ว่าต้องจัดห้องเรียนแบบ Team Learning รวมทั้งใส่เสื้อ uniform ให้เรียบร้อยก่อนที่ครูจะมาถึงห้องเรียน
