I worked with Khrus Tan and Oye, using a fun, competitive activity to get students reading and remembering the meaning of question words. It was really satisfying, especially to see some of the lowest level students breaking through psychological barriers, finding that they have a lot more ability than they believed themselves.
Now I have a rather pointed question to ask:
Given that these events, with lots of fun activities are so effective, and "normal" education, with it's boring rote drilling is so ineffective, why not make every day an English Camp, Science Camp, Maths Camp and so forth?
I saw both teachers and students genuinely enjoying themselves, and some wonderful learning taking place this morning.
And today was a Sunday! Who wants to work, or study on a holiday? Anyone ... provided it's fun.
I will add some pictures later in the week to show you just how much fun we had. Jon will also update you on his recent experiences, setting up Team English at Ban Tha Lambit and Ban Sri Pracha schools.
